Captain’s License Part 55
Today we look at SOUND SIGNALS in an area with RESTRICTED VISIBILITY.
If the vessel is POWER DRIVEN then it must sound a signal of intervals of not more than 2 minutes a strong PROLONGED blast.
If the power driven vessel is underway but stopped, it must sound a signal of intervals of not more than 2 minutes 2 strong PROLONGED blasts in succession with an interval of approximately 2 seconds between them.
If a vessel is NOT UNDER COMMAND, restricted in its ability to move, constrained by its draft, a SAILING vessel, FISHING vessel, or engaged in towing or pushing another vessel, then it must sound a signal of intervals of not more than 2 minutes 3 blasts in succession composed of 1 PROLONGED blast followed by 2 short blasts.
