Captain’s License Part 30
We are continuing with the International Rules of the Road for LIGHTS.
Still looking at TOWING and PUSHING vessels we learn that if a vessel is less than 50 meters in length and either pushing ahead or towing beside, it shall exhibit TWO masthead lights directly above and below each other, sidelights, and a stern light.
The towed vessel must have sidelights, a stern light and a diamond shaped flag if it exceeds 200 meters. If the towed vessel is being pushed ahead, then it must exhibit sidelights at the forward end.
If this same vessel is being towed along side, it must exhibit a stern light and the same sidelights at its forward end.
